ITS has temporarily disabled Identity Finder while we finalize the long-range plans for the service.
Three years ago, in an effort to reduce the risk of identity theft, ITS began running Identity Finder weekly on individual computers to find personally identifiable information. Our assessment is that this has dramatically reduced the amount of personally identifiable information present on university computers. It has recently come to our attention that when Identity Finder is running, it can interfere with the normal start-up of Microsoft Outlook. This is not a frequent problem, but we have disabled Identity Finder while we work with our provider to correct this issue. We will re-introduce Identity Finder when it works properly with Outlook, and consistent with the decreased presence of personally identifiable information, it will be configured to run monthly, rather than weekly. We will notify you before Identity Finder is reinstated.
